Thanks Troop 4653!

Thank you Girl Scout Troop 4653 and Troop Leader Heather S. for making dog and cat toys for our less fortunate pantry members. So very sweet of the girls to do this and I'm sure our members will greatly appreciate them. You are fine young ladies! ~Debby

Cat toys w/catnip made from children's socks.

Knotted dog chew toys made from denim.

Awesome Kids!

More awesome kids! For the past two October's, I have been going to New Hope Methodist Church to speak to The Rascals (children's Sunday School class) about animal/pet welfare and they do a pet food collection for us. Today I stopped by the PO Box and found this. Those sweet kids, this is the second year they have donated to the pantry. Thank you Rascals and Ms. Sandy!! xoxoxox ~Debby

Home Run for the Hounds Trivia Night!

This Friday eve, May 1st our dear friends at barcstl.org and Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic are holding their fundraiser/trivia night. PLEASE go out to support them and SHARE with your friends! Because of these groups, we have been able to provide spay/neuter (at no cost) to hundreds of pets belonging to our low income pantry members! They need funds to continue this amazing service. ~Debby

Also, BIG thanks to my dear friend Jen Brosch (who I haven't seen in a few years) for bringing a car load of awesome goods (lots of vintage, collectible and brand new items). Thrift Store Update

Thank you everyone for your donations to our thrift store. I still do not have an opening date, I’m trying to get everything done in what time allows, but very soon.
PLEASE keep in mind when donating items, we are trying to sell good quality items at a low price to help pay for pet food, vetting and overhead expenses. Clothing should be free of holes, tears, stains and pet hair. House wares /glassware should be free of food, dirt, mildew, and not broken. Electronics should be in working condition. Books, records, games should have the covers and all pieces.
We are NOT accepting children’s clothing/toys,TV’s, computers or Christmas items (unless it’s something very unique or vintage).

Volunteers Needed!

It’s crunch time! We need volunteers to work at our thrift store!! We are hoping to open in the next few weeks. We finally have everything laid out and enough fixtures to get us going; now we just need some folks to run it. Even if you can only work a couple of days a month, that would be great.
Retail or cash handling is preferred, but we are willing to train the right people. The ideal candidate would be someone who is retired, unemployed or works part time. There will be two volunteers working per shift. This is a non-paying job BUT volunteering looks great on a resume. Ringing up sales will be easy as everything will be even numbers (.50 cents, $1.00, $2.00 etc) and there will be no sales tax. You will need to learn the register and credit card machine (it’s easy).
In the beginning (until we get more volunteers) hours will be:
Thurs- Fri, 11 am till 5 pm
Sat, 10 am – 3 pm
Responsibilities will include:
Customer service
Ringing up sales
Cleaning and organizing
Sorting and pricing donations
We will provide: bottled water, snacks, and coffee. We have a mini-fridge and will be getting a microwave soon. We also, have a nice patio outside (in the back) which we are hoping to get some tables and chairs out there for breaks.
Thrift store volunteers will get first choice of in-coming merchandise and a substantial discount on items!
If you have already applied, please confirm you are still interested.
If you are interested in volunteering, please send us a private message, email info@JeffCoPetFoodPantry.org or call 314-723-6127.

Quick Fix for Community Cats

We have a HUGE feral cat problem here in JeffCo. So many discarded kitties who multiply every day. I am begging everyone to PLEASE share this and offer to help anyone you know who has a feral cat problem. Carol House request ALL feral cats be contained in humane traps or wire kennels NOT carriers! SHARE with EVERYONE!!
