Year End Tax Deduction

Less than a week to make a tax deductible, year end donation!! We are a small (but mighty) organization which relies solely on donations. We have accomplished so much over the years and want to do more to help our community. We have big plans for 2016, but without donations we cannot achieve out goals. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to our organization?

HUGE "Shout Out" to our neighbors Jesse's Pizza and Wings for donating several pizza's and a lot of chicken wings for our volunteer party. You all went above and beyond. The service was amazing and so was the food, (delivery guy kept coming by to see if we needed more food, kept delivering it and even took group pictures). PLEASE support these guys! They were top notch to deal with and made our party very special.5635 Old HWY 21, Imperial, MO 63052 (636) 948-0522

Volunteer Christmas Party 2015

Volunteers are the heart and soul of any non-profit organization . I am truly blessed to have the best group of people in my life who's dedication and love is beyond words. I have thrift store volunteers, people who pick up and deliver food (from locations and to our home-bound members), those who bag pet food and those who work our distributions. Today we had our 1st ever volunteer Christmas party. It was great for us to finally spend some time together, not working and just getting to know each other. I'm sorry I cried so much today, but I love and appreciate you all so much. Each and everyone of you mean so much to me! xoxox ~Debby

Our Christmas Pet Food Distribution Was The Best YET!!

WOW!! On Sunday Dec. 20th, 2015 we gave away 2,120 lbs of dog food, 762 lbs of cat food, hundreds of canned food, litter, toys and treats yesterday. Thanks to everyone who donated, made/donated toys, bagged pet food and treats. Thanks to the donor who gave us the coolers and to Tina L for making 3 feral cat shelters we were able to give away. We had tubs of toys and treats! ...and we signed up 7 dogs and 11 cats to get fixed!! Most of all thanks to the hard working, dedicated volunteers who give their free time to make this happen!
Our people were very happy to get so much yesterday. ~Debby

Helping a Disabled Veteran at Christmas.

Last week I was contacted by Abbey Candy who wanted to "adopt" one of our pantry members for Christmas. I immediately thought of Rich (who is a disabled Vietnam vet, with PTSD and has a very hard time). Even though tall in stature, Rich is one of the most kind, gentle people you would ever want to meet. He has 5 senior cats, a raccoon (not a pet, but will eat from his hands). What keeps him calm is feeding and watching the birds. We don't have bird seed, but thanks to Abbey for supplying that for him along with other necessities, it made this sweet man so very happy. Rich approved my posting his picture, along with volunteer Bill (in the Santa hat). It was very heartwarming. Thank you Abbey for doing this for Rich.

Free Straw for Warm Paws.

Operation SPOT is once again sponsoring the crucial "Free Straw for Warm Paws" program. Check out the below locations to pick up straw, which makes great insulation for dog and feral cat houses. We really discourage keeping pets outside, but if you must..please provide adequate shelter for them!

It's Giving Tuesday! Please consider a tax deducible donation to the Pantry?

We have no sponsors or funding. We rely on donations to keep us going.

Where does the time go?

One year ago today, I made a huge commitment…put ink to paper and signed a 2 year lease for this “hot mess” of a store front. It had been vacant for years and just used as storage. I got a great deal on rent, but in doing so, I would do all of the work to get things up to code (and my standards)
.
After years of the pantry being nomads, I finally found a centrally located spot where we could store, collect and distribute pet food to our low income residents. Once we got in there and cleared trash out, we realized we actually had a pretty descent size space. The wheels started turning and I decided to go full on with my dream to open a thrift store to support the pantry. Yes I am crazy, but life is short and when opportunity knocks, TAKE IT!!

We had several pet food distributions before we were “legal”. It took six months of clearing out trash, wiring, cleaning, painting, patching holes, minor renovations, permits, inspections and then we were ready to open the thrift store.

I cannot thank all of those who would just show up at night to paint, clean or take out trash when they would see the lights on or who followed our page. The outpouring of volunteers was (and still is) amazing.

I am so incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful people who have stood by and supported us. I feel like we have a home now. I LOVE our little plaza and the merchants we share it with, what a great group of folks.

A special “THANK YOU” to Mary who has stuck by me from carpentry, painting, sorting, cleaning, bagging, distributions and working at the thrift store, you are my rock lady! And to my sweet daddy who has gone above and beyond to make my dream come true.
